Frequently Asked Questions
How does a chemical peel work?
The solution chemically exfoliates the outer layers of the skin. This stimulates cell turnover and triggers the skin's natural healing process, leading to the regeneration of healthier, more youthful-looking skin.
How many treatments will I need?
This will depend on your skin type, concerns and goals. In your cosmetic consultation, we will gain a better understanding of your skin and be able to give you an idea of how many sessions you’ll need.
What are aftercare instructions for this treatment?
It’s essential to allow your skin to heal and breathe without any potential irritants so we recommend you wait at least 1-2 weeks before applying makeup, and longer if your skin still feels sensitive or is showing signs of redness.
Additionally, use gentle and mild cleansers and moisturisers and apply an SPF30+ sunscreen to keep your skin clean and hydrated.
What activities should I avoid?
It’s important to avoid overheating in the first 1-2 weeks post-treatment to manage any redness, tingling and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation so limit time in the sun, take cooler showers and baths and take it easy while exercising.
Is it normal to have a breakout after a peel?
As frustrating as it may be, yes! Take comfort in the fact that in a few days, your skin should clear up and look healthier than it was. If you notice that it doesn’t and feel concerned, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Can chemical peels be combined with other treatments?
Yes. To enhance results, we may recommend complementary treatments like microdermabrasion.
