Frequently Asked Questions
How does RF microneedling work?
Microneedling causes small, controlled wounds in the skin to trigger a natural healing response where new tissue and skin cells are formed, allowing for significant improvements to the tone and texture of the skin.
RF energy delivers controlled heat deep into the skin’s layers to cause a thermal reaction that stimulates collagen production and leads to the contraction of existing collagen fibres.
Additionally, the healing effects of RF energy can promote circulation and delivery of nutrients.
Is there any preparation needed?
For clients with medium to dark skin tone, we may recommend a serum to use in the lead-up to prep the skin and minimise the risk of hyperpigmentation following the treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
This will depend on your skin type, concerns and goals. In your cosmetic consultation, we will gain a better understanding of your skin and be able to give you an idea of how many sessions you’ll need.
Is the treatment truly pain-free?
Generally, yes, but if you do have a low pain tolerance, you can apply a topical anaesthetic, that is a numbing cream, to your skin at least 15 minutes before your appointment.
What are aftercare instructions for this treatment?
After microneedling, it’s essential to allow your skin to heal and breathe without any potential irritants so we recommend you wait at least 1 day before applying makeup, and longer if your skin still feels sensitive or is showing signs of redness.
Additionally, use gentle and mild cleansers and moisturisers and apply an SPF30+ sunscreen to keep your skin clean and hydrated.
What activities should I avoid?
It’s important to avoid overheating in the first 1-2 days post-treatment to help healing so limit time in the sun, take cooler showers and baths and take it easy while exercising.
