What to expect

Breast augmentation with an implant is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in our current day. You can expect to feel pain and heaviness for the first week after your surgery. You will need at least 3 months off from heavy exercise or contact sport. Initially the implants sit high on the chest wall, and may look more square, but they drop and settle in over time. It is possible to get implants under the pectoralis muscle or over the muscle and your recovery will depend on the nature of the surgical procedure, the size of the implants and your healing capacity.

Procedure specific risks are: Capsular Contracture, asymmetry, ruptured or flipped implant, haematoma or seroma, Breast Implant Illness or non-specific systemic symptoms, Breast Implant associated anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma, trauma from the surgery such as a pneumothorax, poor scarring, poor aesthetic result. Breast implants are not lifetime devices and you should expect to have a repeat surgery at some point in the future.
