PRP treatment is used to help repair your skin so it looks younger.
The platelet-rich plasma treatment repairs your skin by using the plasma in your blood. Plasma has a lot of platelets, which are important for clotting our blood and fixing our bodies. Platelets also release "growth factors," which can encourage stem cells to repair and make new healthy tissue in the treated area. Using a centrifuge, you can separate your platelet-rich plasma from your blood. Because your own blood is used, there is no risk of getting a disease or having an allergic reaction. PRP is used in all areas of medicine and is becoming an increasingly popular way to treat hair loss.
In your 40 to 60-minute PRP appointment (with exact duration depending on treatment areas), we begin by drawing a small amount of blood, just like a standard blood test. The blood is processed to separate the platelet-rich plasma. This is then applied topically or injected using microneedling techniques. Post-treatment, you may experience mild bruising and redness, which is expected and will subside within a day. It’s essential to stick to your aftercare and remember that it can take multiple treatments for desired outcomes.
It is a cosmetic procedure that uses the healing properties of your own blood to rejuvenate the skin and hair. Your plasma contains a high concentration of platelets and growth factors, which stimulate cell regeneration, collagen production and tissue repair; these help improve skin tone, texture and elasticity as well as hair health. The growth factors can also enhance circulation to improve delivery of nutrients.
Is PRP safe?
Yes. We are trained in the procedure at The Dalia Clinic and because your own blood is used, there is no danger of disease transmission or allergies.
How soon will I see results with PepFactor Scalp?
Results vary from person to person but many notice visible changes in hair volume within 4 weeks of their first PepFactor session. After 6-8 applications, the full effects may become more apparent.
What are aftercare instructions for this treatment?
After microneedling, it’s essential to allow your skin to heal and breathe without any potential irritants so we recommend you wait at least 1 day before applying makeup, and longer if your skin still feels sensitive or is showing signs of redness.
Additionally, use gentle and mild cleansers and moisturisers and apply an SPF30+ sunscreen to keep your skin clean and hydrated.
What activities should I avoid?
It’s important to avoid overheating in the first 1-2 weeks post-treatment to manage any redness, tingling and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation so limit time in the sun, take cooler showers and baths and take it easy while exercising.
